Book title: The Seeds of Time [+]
Author: Kay Kenyon Posted October 12, 2001 Seeds of Time is set in a future where Earth is running out of biological resources. The plants, and the planet, is dying. The main character, Clio, is a pilot of a time ship that is searching for new plants on other planets that can survive on earth. She discovers a planet that could save earth--but at a cost (isn't there always a cost?). Earth's technology would be irrevocably changed. I won't say how--this is the most creative and interesting part of the book. The status quo on the planet doesn't want that to happen, so (of course) Clio must fight them. Clio is an interesting character -- she's strong and intelligent, and I really liked reading about her. Kenyon is good at drawing strong female characters, and the plot actually avoids the most common cliches. |
