The full title of this book is Jumping Frog : In English, Then in French, Then Clawed Back into a Civilized Language Once More by Patient, Unremunerated Toil. It is written in three parts: first, the original version of "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" followed by the first French translation of it, then followed-by by Twain's tongue-in-cheek retranslation of the French version.

Twain's story is a pleasure to read. His knack for capturing the humor in a moment is legendary for good reason. Since I don't read French, I can't vouch for the authenticity of the French translation, however, Twain's retranslation is fun. Anyone who has ever played with Babel Fish or similar automatic translators will find themselves in familiar territory. Twain mangles verb tenses and word order with aplomb and comic effect.

The book is 65 pages long and is beautifully illustrated.
