Book title: Knitting for Dummies [0]
Author: Pam Allen
Posted November 21, 2002

This is a good introduction to knitting. It doesn't have the style of Knitting in Plain English, but it provides good solid information about basic knitting techniques. It includes how-to sections on American and continental knitting, and a bit about circular knitting (although the Righetti book is better for circular knitting).

What really distinguishes this book are the pictures. The diagrams and photos are clear and easy to follow. A visual learner would find this book an excellent learning aid. The book includes many easy projects, such as scarves, pillows, a sweater, and purses. The projects are colorful and clearly presented.

The book seriously lacks the little tips and tricks that really raise knitting from a mechanical exercise to a fun and challenging craft. It's a decent introduction to knitting, but no more.
